The Escape Room – Paranormal Nightshift Story – Episode 113

Welcome to Paranormal Night Shift, your one-stop destination for spine-chilling tales and mysterious encounters in the dark. In today’s episode, we have a bone-chilling story sent in by Tommy from Boston, Massachusetts, titled “The Escape Room.”

Tommy, recently single and ready to mingle, reluctantly agrees to a double date set up by his brother and his girlfriend. The plan is to do something unusual to break the ice, and after scouring Groupon, Tommy stumbles upon Jack’s House of Horrors, an escape room. With Halloween just around the corner, it seems like the perfect choice, and the price is right. Little did they know, this night would become a nightmare.

Upon arrival, the first ominous sign is the house’s remote location and eerie appearance. They knock on the door, and a man who looks straight out of a horror movie greets them. The house reeks of sweat and sulfur, setting an unsettling atmosphere from the start.

As they enter the escape room, they’re met with a damp, dark, and musty environment. The walls are covered in plastic, and fake blood is splattered everywhere. The objective is to solve a murder mystery within an hour. However, things take a sinister turn when the steel door slams shut behind them, and the lights go out.

Tommy and his companions soon realize that this escape room is unlike any other. The fake props turn out to be disturbingly real, with actual blood, dead rats, and a putrid stench that fills the room. Panic sets in when Tommy cuts his hand on broken glass, pleading for an exit, but the voice over the speaker remains cold and unresponsive.

As they investigate further, the horrifying truth becomes apparent – this is not a game; it’s a sick and twisted reality. They come across severed body parts, and Jack’s eerie laughter echoes through the speakers. Suddenly, the lights go out, and Tommy feels a presence in the room with them. Panic intensifies as they hear the screams of their companions, assaulted by an unseen assailant.

In the darkness and chaos, Tommy fights back, striking blindly at the figure in the room. Then, everything goes black as he’s hit from behind. It’s the last thing he remembers.

Tommy awakens in his own bed, drenched in sweat, convinced it was all a terrifying dream. But reality creeps back in when his brother calls, suggesting they go to an escape room that evening with Katie. Strangely, Tommy declines the offer, still shaken by his nightmare.

Weeks pass, and Tommy and Katie’s relationship blossoms. However, Tommy stumbles upon a news article about a sinister escape room in Boston where people were being trapped and harmed. He can’t help but wonder if his dream was a warning, a premonition, or something paranormal protecting them from a nightmarish fate.

00:00:00,040 –> 00:00:02,720
This is one of the scariest
haunted house attractions I’ve

2
00:00:02,840 –> 00:00:04,520
ever been.
Welcome to Paranormal night

3
00:00:04,520 –> 00:00:07,280
shift, your home for all things
that go bump in the dark and

4
00:00:07,280 –> 00:00:11,640
your fan stories told here.
Today’s story comes from Tommy

5
00:00:11,640 –> 00:00:15,800
in Boston, MA and it’s called
the Escape Room.

6
00:00:16,280 –> 00:00:19,040
I had just gotten out of a long
relationship and was newly

7
00:00:19,040 –> 00:00:21,360
single.
My brother and his girlfriend

8
00:00:21,360 –> 00:00:24,600
kept trying to hook me up with
all of her friends, but nothing

9
00:00:24,600 –> 00:00:29,240
ever worked out till Katie.
Katie was a friend of my

10
00:00:29,240 –> 00:00:32,159
brother’s girlfriend’s and we
decided that we were all going

11
00:00:32,159 –> 00:00:35,920
to go on a double date.
I hated the idea, but it was

12
00:00:35,920 –> 00:00:38,400
going to be fun.
My brother and his girlfriend

13
00:00:38,400 –> 00:00:40,920
decided that we should do
something fun and unusual,

14
00:00:40,920 –> 00:00:43,200
something to really kind of
break the ice.

15
00:00:43,880 –> 00:00:46,800
I looked on Groupon to see what
I could find and there was

16
00:00:46,800 –> 00:00:49,640
nothing.
Cool bowling laser tag.

17
00:00:50,080 –> 00:00:53,280
It all seemed really lame.
But then I saw something for

18
00:00:53,280 –> 00:00:57,770
Jack’s House of Horrors and
escape Room, with it being close

19
00:00:57,770 –> 00:01:00,650
to Halloween and spooky season,
and it was only going to be 20

20
00:01:00,650 –> 00:01:02,010
bucks for all of us to go.
It.

21
00:01:02,330 –> 00:01:04,410
It seemed like it was going to
be too good to be true.

22
00:01:04,410 –> 00:01:06,890
But you know, I wanted to do
something exciting.

23
00:01:06,970 –> 00:01:10,330
I was new into this dating
world, and this would at least

24
00:01:10,330 –> 00:01:13,450
give us something to talk about.
I booked it and I got the

25
00:01:13,450 –> 00:01:15,490
address and we all headed there
that night.

26
00:01:16,250 –> 00:01:19,690
The first warning was that it
was a residential address.

27
00:01:20,170 –> 00:01:21,690
It was out in the middle of the
boonies.

28
00:01:21,690 –> 00:01:25,130
Nobody ever goes down that way,
but that was what the address

29
00:01:25,130 –> 00:01:28,090
was.
We pull up to this old house.

30
00:01:28,090 –> 00:01:30,570
Man, this this thing looks
really creepy.

31
00:01:30,930 –> 00:01:32,290
Are you sure this is the right
place?

32
00:01:32,290 –> 00:01:35,090
My brother said.
Is the address that’s here on

33
00:01:35,090 –> 00:01:38,050
the thing.
We knock on the door and this

34
00:01:38,250 –> 00:01:42,890
guy opens the door.
He looked like Norman Bates,

35
00:01:43,330 –> 00:01:46,290
clean cut, but dirty and
dishevelled all at the same

36
00:01:46,290 –> 00:01:48,930
time.
The house smelt like sweat and

37
00:01:48,930 –> 00:01:52,010
sulphur.
Welcome to Jack’s House of

38
00:01:52,010 –> 00:01:57,140
horrors, he said.
You’ve got an hour in the escape

39
00:01:57,140 –> 00:01:59,820
room.
You got to figure out the crime

40
00:01:59,820 –> 00:02:03,180
scene.
The whole thing seemed really

41
00:02:03,340 –> 00:02:06,580
cheesy, but I was trying to
impress this girl.

42
00:02:07,220 –> 00:02:12,500
We go in there and the room is
just damp and dark and musty

43
00:02:12,500 –> 00:02:15,340
smelling.
There’s plastic on the walls and

44
00:02:15,740 –> 00:02:19,220
fake blood everywhere.
The the story was that there was

45
00:02:19,220 –> 00:02:23,220
a crime scene and a murder had
taken place and we had to figure

46
00:02:23,220 –> 00:02:26,860
out who did it.
The big steel door slammed

47
00:02:26,860 –> 00:02:31,580
behind us and the lights go off.
Jack’s voice came over the the

48
00:02:31,580 –> 00:02:34,260
speaker.
All right, you have an hour.

49
00:02:34,740 –> 00:02:38,820
I hope you can figure it out.
This is so lame and a horrible

50
00:02:38,820 –> 00:02:40,940
idea.
I know I have no chance with

51
00:02:40,940 –> 00:02:44,620
Katie now, but that’s when weird
stuff started to happen.

52
00:02:45,460 –> 00:02:48,540
Like the blood it was It was
warm.

53
00:02:49,420 –> 00:02:52,660
Fake blood’s not supposed to be
warm and supposed to be like

54
00:02:52,660 –> 00:02:56,570
corn starchy.
It was warm, like it was fresh.

55
00:02:57,330 –> 00:03:01,290
There was a such a horrible
smell.

56
00:03:01,290 –> 00:03:03,610
It makes me gag thinking about
it.

57
00:03:04,250 –> 00:03:06,490
There were shards of glass
everywhere.

58
00:03:06,850 –> 00:03:09,450
I actually cut my hand on one of
them as we were searching.

59
00:03:09,890 –> 00:03:14,810
Hey man, I cut my hand like you
got to you got to open the door.

60
00:03:15,290 –> 00:03:19,090
You still have 45 minutes.
The voice said loud over the

61
00:03:19,090 –> 00:03:22,410
speaker.
No, like, seriously, I’m hurt.

62
00:03:22,410 –> 00:03:26,140
I don’t want to do this anymore.
Like, I I think I might even

63
00:03:26,140 –> 00:03:28,060
need stitches.
This is this is bad.

64
00:03:29,060 –> 00:03:32,460
But he never opened the door.
Now I’m kind of freaking out.

65
00:03:32,500 –> 00:03:34,820
This guy’s really playing into
this thing, man.

66
00:03:35,300 –> 00:03:38,620
Like, he’s really into this.
But my hands messed up.

67
00:03:38,620 –> 00:03:41,420
But I think I’ll be OK.
Let’s just let’s just figure

68
00:03:41,420 –> 00:03:43,700
this out, OK?
Let’s just let’s just figure

69
00:03:43,700 –> 00:03:46,460
this out.
The more we investigated, the

70
00:03:46,460 –> 00:03:51,820
more the props were real.
Those really were dead rats on

71
00:03:51,820 –> 00:03:54,800
the floor.
There really were blood

72
00:03:54,800 –> 00:03:57,240
everywhere.
It was all real.

73
00:03:57,240 –> 00:03:58,800
This.
This wasn’t a game.

74
00:03:58,800 –> 00:04:02,800
This was this guy’s sick,
twisted, demented way of of

75
00:04:03,120 –> 00:04:06,080
admitting that he did something.
Hey, man, let us out.

76
00:04:06,280 –> 00:04:08,840
We don’t want to play anymore.
Hey, dude, this isn’t funny.

77
00:04:08,840 –> 00:04:12,800
You got to get us out of here.
We came across severed body

78
00:04:12,800 –> 00:04:16,040
parts and hair, his laughing
coming over the speakers.

79
00:04:16,040 –> 00:04:19,560
And then the lights went out.
I could feel his breath on my

80
00:04:19,560 –> 00:04:20,360
back.
He had.

81
00:04:20,740 –> 00:04:22,620
He had entered the room.
He was in here with us, but we

82
00:04:22,620 –> 00:04:24,340
couldn’t see anything.
Man.

83
00:04:24,340 –> 00:04:25,500
Get away from us.
Creepy.

84
00:04:25,820 –> 00:04:27,020
This is weird.
Dude.

85
00:04:27,020 –> 00:04:29,060
Get away.
I could hear Katie and my

86
00:04:29,060 –> 00:04:32,580
brother’s girlfriend screaming
as he grabbed at them, pawling

87
00:04:32,580 –> 00:04:35,460
at them, touching them.
Me and my brother, we couldn’t

88
00:04:35,460 –> 00:04:37,100
see anything.
It was so dark.

89
00:04:37,300 –> 00:04:41,180
It was so crowded and cluttered.
We we we couldn’t see anything.

90
00:04:41,180 –> 00:04:43,540
We couldn’t help them.
My arms were spread out.

91
00:04:43,540 –> 00:04:46,480
I grabbed a hold of a body,
yelling to make sure it wasn’t

92
00:04:46,480 –> 00:04:48,800
somebody I knew, asking if it
was my brother.

93
00:04:49,000 –> 00:04:51,600
Nobody would answer.
I swung upon the body over and

94
00:04:51,600 –> 00:04:54,960
over again, striking it
viciously, as hard as I could.

95
00:04:55,240 –> 00:04:57,560
It went black.
Something, something had hit me

96
00:04:57,560 –> 00:04:59,920
in the back of the head.
That’s the last thing I

97
00:04:59,960 –> 00:05:02,600
remember.
I woke up in my own bed,

98
00:05:03,400 –> 00:05:08,480
sweating, panting, fever dream.
It was all just a dream.

99
00:05:09,440 –> 00:05:11,920
My brother had called me that
morning.

100
00:05:12,440 –> 00:05:14,440
Hey man, what do you want to do
tonight with these girls?

101
00:05:14,990 –> 00:05:16,270
I want to introduce you to
Katie.

102
00:05:16,950 –> 00:05:18,830
We were thinking about doing an
escape room.

103
00:05:19,590 –> 00:05:21,070
Is that something you’d be
interested in?

104
00:05:21,790 –> 00:05:25,150
It had all been a dream.
My brother brought up an idea

105
00:05:25,150 –> 00:05:26,590
that we should go to an escape
room.

106
00:05:27,150 –> 00:05:31,350
Jack’s House of horrors.
I don’t know if it was a

107
00:05:31,350 –> 00:05:34,070
premonition.
I don’t know if it was nerves,

108
00:05:34,070 –> 00:05:38,830
but of course I said no.
Katie and I have been dating now

109
00:05:38,830 –> 00:05:41,110
for a couple weeks.
Things are going well.

110
00:05:41,830 –> 00:05:43,590
Never go to an escape room with
her.

111
00:05:44,150 –> 00:05:49,110
I later found out from a news
article about an escape room out

112
00:05:49,110 –> 00:05:53,190
in Boston to where a guy was
trapping people in there and

113
00:05:53,550 –> 00:05:57,510
hurting them.
I don’t know if it was some sort

114
00:05:57,510 –> 00:06:00,510
of guardian Angel making sure
that this didn’t happen to us,

115
00:06:01,150 –> 00:06:04,630
but I know it’s paranormal and I
can’t explain my dream.
