Welcome to Paranormal Night Shift, your home for all things that go bump in the dark and where we share your fan stories. Do you believe that loved ones can come back to say goodbye one last time? I receive stories like these all the time, and I’m here to tell you that there’s something intriguing and mysterious about the afterlife.
In today’s episode, I’ll be sharing a touching story about a visit from a beloved grandfather that will give you chills.
My grandfather had been battling illness for quite some time and was in hospice care. Despite living six hours away, my mom would FaceTime him regularly to chat. He always insisted that we shouldn’t waste money coming to visit until he passed, as he didn’t want us to be bored or inconvenienced.
One fateful night, his health took a dire turn, and we knew he didn’t have much time left. He called my mom to tell her not to come up, that there was no point, and he needed her to take care of our family. My mom had saved up enough money to fly up the next day, determined to be by his side.
However, when the morning came, things took a bizarre turn. Every alarm in the house, from cell phone alarms to actual clock alarms, mysteriously failed to go off. It was as if someone had deleted every alarm my mom had set. Even though she’s not a heavy sleeper, my mom slept until almost 9:30 or 10 o’clock, way past the time we needed to leave for our flight.
It was a strange, almost surreal experience. We later described it as if some kind of peaceful haze had settled over the house, keeping us all in a deep slumber until the exact moment we needed to wake up.
Panicked, my mom called my grandmother, who laughed and told her, “Your grandfather passed away last night. He told you not to come, and I guess he made sure you got his final wish.”
As it turned out, my grandfather had left everything to my mom, which significantly changed her life. We now live in his house, and it feels like his way of saying, “Use the money for the move, not to come see me.”
We attended the funeral, and everything was taken care of, thanks to the money my mom had already set aside for the tickets. It’s as if Grandpa knew he was going and wanted to ensure we were as prepared as he was.
